VILLA PARK, Calif.– On Saturday and Sunday, November 3rd & 4th The Bruce Randall Foundation and the Positive Coaching Alliance will host former NBA great Swen Nater for the release of his book and DVD “Playing Big, the definitive guide to modern post play.”, co-authored with Pete Newell the premier “Big Man” trainer. Swen holds numerous records during his 12 years of professional basketball in the ABA, NBA and the Italian League, including the only player to lead in rebounds in both the ABA and NBA and the only player to have been drafted in the first round of the league without having started a college game.
The Bruce Randall foundation which consists of an impressive executive board headed by Coach John Wooden and including former Laker and Bruin great Swen Nater , retired Utah Jazz star Mark Eaton, Rick Darnell and Adam Parada, a past recipient of the Randall Foundation , UCI star and European League Professional. Other executive board members, clinicians and coaches for past events include Tom Lubin, Don Ford, Don Johnson and Mark Campanaro.
The Positive Coaching Alliance is a non-profit organization based in the Athletic
Department at Stanford University. Since 1998 PCA has conducted several thousand coach training, parent education and leadership development workshops to help youth sports organizations create an organizational culture that is both positive, competitive and character building.
The Randall Foundation two-day “Playing Big” fundamentals camp proceeds will raise monies for the Adopt-A-Player Program. This program provides financial scholarships for student/athletes who are unable to afford the high cost of extra-curricular basketball programs.
In previous years The Bruce Randall Foundation has sponsored numerous important programs including free basketball clinics for at risk children, as well as clinics at the Soboba Indian Reservation. The foundation also prides itself in the help provided to several prominent college and professional athletes through mentoring, tutoring, and specialized basketball training. In addition the Foundation has provided computers to needy students, sponsored journalism scholarships, and has annually funded academic scholarships at a variety of high schools in the Southern California area.
