Renardo Sidney Sparks LA Dream Team to 2nd annual Fullcourt Press End of the Trail Classic Title

LA Dream Team, behind the scoring punch (21 points) of tourney MVP 6’10” junior Renardo Sidney (Artesia/Lakewood CA) defeated a young, but talented Compton Magic squad 60-56 to capture the 2nd annual Fullcourt Press End of the Trail Classic’s Gold Division title last week at Cabrillo HS (Long Beach CA). 6’1” sophomore Deonta Burton (Cabrillo/Long Beach CA) led the Magic with 13 points.
Houston Lynx - behind 21 points from 6’9” senior Chris Otule (Bush/Fort Bend TX) defeated BTI 79-68 to win the Silver division championship. 6’2” soph point Kendall Williams (Los Osos/Rancho Cucamonga CA) paced BTI with 18 points.
There were plenty of college coaches present including head coaches Ben Howland (UCLA), Lorenzo Romar (Washington), Jamie Dixon (Pittsburgh), Mark Fox (Nevada), John Beilein (Michigan), Steve Fisher (San Diego State), Dan Monson (Long Beach State), Vance Walberg (Pepperdine), Marvin Menzies (New Mexico State), Kerry Keating (Santa Clara), Eric Reveno (Portland), Gary Stewart (UC-Davis) and Mike Adras (Northern Arizona) as well as representatives from other major schools like Florida, Ohio State, USC, Arizona, Georgetown, Stanford, Texas, Illinois, Arizona State, Cal, Tennessee, Illinois, Oregon, Boston College, Vanderbilt, Seton Hall, Miami FL, Washington State, Oregon State, Colorado, Air Force, Wichita State and Utah.

Renardo Sidney 6’10” 2009 Artesia (Lakewood CA) (MVP)
Sidney is as good as he wants to be…….when he wants to be. And at this event, he was very good! Sidney (ranked by many as 2009’s top prospect) has been criticized recently for being too perimeter oriented, but at this event he was a tremendous force inside –powering his squad to the tourney title. Sidney (whose short list of schools include Ohio State, UCLA, USC and Texas) appears headed to Fairfax (Los Angeles CA) this fall for his junior season
Lashard Anderson 6’0” 2007 Serra (San Diego CA)
Crafty point runs team well. Anderson appears to be a very late summer addition to Central Florida.
Enoch Andoh 6’8” 2008 Mitty (San Jose CA)
While not flashy, Andoh is really productive on both ends of the floor. Very good student.

Physical lead guard is a bulldog on defense and has the offensive tools to be a heralded national recruit.

Scrappy combo-guard has a knack for making key shots and as well critical defensive stops.

Clayman is a skilled post-forward whose perimeter range defenders must respect.

”Solid as a rock” floor general has a tight handle and the ability to run a team efficiently.

Las Vegas native is an “off the charts” student (4.85 GPA) with real scoring ability.

Big wing has a shooter’s touch and huge upside.

The “new and improved” Gillenwater is arguably as good a low-post scorer in the 2008 class. Florida, Pitt and New Mexico (among others) are in the hunt.

Savvy and cerebral combo-guard is a “jack-of-all-trades” that simply gets the job done.

Strong combo-guard scores in a variety of ways and is a dependable defender.

Among the nation’s top post sleepers, Otule is a beast in the paint and a looming presence on the defensive end.
