Young Talent Shines at Fullcourt Press Inland Empire Showcase
By Etop Udo Ema

Southern California already has two of the top 10 Class of 2010 national prospects in my estimation in 6-9 Jeremy Tyler (San Diego High) and 6-1 Gary Franklin (Santa Ana Mater Dei).

The Fullcourt Press Inland Empire Showcase on Sunday October 22nd at San Bernardino Valley College showcased the top talent in the Inland Empire.

The game that impressed the most was the freshman game (2010) where we noticed many players who have a chance to be join the above-mentioned duo and will be recognized nationally.

Here were the top 10 freshman at the Inland Empire Showcase.

1. Clint Bozner 6-6 Villa Park - Keeps growing every time we see him and should end up about 6-10. Big time shooter who can really stroke it. They have already attached the nickname “Dirk”. Big time competitor who loves to play. Will be a legitimate high major player. As soon as the scouting gurus get their eyes on this guy he will be top 50 nationally immediately.

2. Derek James 6-6 Canyon Springs – First time we have ever heard of him or saw him. A virtual unknown in Southern California but not for long. Big time body and big time athlete already. The best kept secret in this class right now. Another national sleeper. Will shoot up the rankings as soon as he is seen.

3. Kendall Williams 6-1 Los Osos – Silky smooth combo guard who can play the point or the off guard. Can handle the ball and run the show with a deadly jumper to go along with it. Not far off some of the big time guards in this class. As a matter of fact his name will start being mentioned in those circles.

4. Derek Brown 6-1 Diamond Ranch – Combo guard who really excels at the point. Big time ballhandler and passer who really knows how to run a team. Pure point who really knows how to get teammates involved. He can also score when needed.

5. Dion Hudson 5-10 Bishop Amat – Super strong combo guard who can really score. Overpowers guards to get baskets. Can shoot the jumper or get to the hole.

6. Nick Paulson 5-10 La Sierra – Crafty combo guard who just gets it done. Not as well known as some other guys out there but will be on the map real soon.

7. Labradford Franklin 6-0 Murrieta Vista – Big time scorer who has a knack for being around the ball all of the time. Will be one of the best scorers in that schools history before it is all over.

8. Matthew Daum 6-3 Silverado – Solid all around post guy who justs finds ways to be effective around the baskets. Rebounds and scores well around the basket.

9. Justin Long 5-9 Rancho Cucamonga – Strong body on this combo who can really score in a variety of ways. Shooting the midrange or slashing to the bucket.

10. Dominic Campbell 6-5 Granite Hills – Long rangy power forward who has a good touch around the basket. Could end up about 6-9 before it is all said and done.
