(August 7, 2006)
The
3rd Annual Beach Basketball Camp held at the Long Beach State Pyramid and the
2nd Annual Fullcourt Press All West JUCO Camp held at the Warrior Center in Cypress, CA were both presented by Compton Magic. Both events were a smashing success. The Beach Basketball Camp featured over 28 of the top junior college teams in California to go along with some teams made up of individuals. The Fullcourt Press All West JUCO Camp boasted over 150 of the top JC players on the West Coast. Both events were loaded with college coaches and media. The All West JUCO Camp welcomed for the 2nd year in a row the top 2 JUCO talent scouts in the country
Jerry Mullen (Mullens Roundball Review) and
Mike Mitchell (Midwest Scouting Service). We would also like to welcome all subscribers to the new
All West Hoop Report that will start officially on January 1, 2007 although subscribers will receive updates and reports (such as this one) all of the way up to the new year. For more information or to subscribe please contact Etop Udo-Ema at

Point Guards
1. Mike Hernandez SO 6'2" Santa Ana - big time playmaker who has a
strong European style feel to his game. Can score if needed and really has the
ability to find teammates and make other guys better. Solid mid major player.
2. Larry Dew PO 6'1" Chaffey - super athletic guard who is a
legitimate D-1 player ability wise but will probably have to go NAIA due to clock
issues. Could be one of the best players in the country at that level immediately.
3. Jamel McGuire FR 6'4" San Diego City - super fast big guard who
can really slash and get to the basket to finish. Needs to work on his point guard
feel but has all of the tools to be a solid mid to high major player. Younger brother
of Cal/Fresno St player Dominic McGuire.

the state. Can really lock down and stop anybody. Solid floor leader who knows
how to run a team.

who can really score it as well. Can play both guard positions.
6. Manny Fierros SO 6'2" Antelope Valley - solid point guard who
really knows how to run a team but will also hit the open jumper if you leave him
open. Makes the easy play. Advances the ball. You get the point.
7. Austin Autry SO 5'10" Undecided - freshman transfer from
Alaska Fairbanks who has gotten stronger and refined his point guard skills.
Out of high school was strickly a scorer. Scoring point guard who gets a lot done.

floor. Can get baskets if needed too.
9. Marlon King FR 5'10" Undecided - Full qualifier (3.8 GPA) who
is a proven winner. Has won over 100 games in his high school career and only
lost 14. Solid defender who really knows how to run a team.
10. Steve Gaston SO 6'1" LA Southwest - More of a combo guard
but is solid and can get the job done at the 1 too.
Combo Guards
1. Rishawn Norwood SO 6'4" MT SAC - led the state in scoring as
a freshman. Could be the best JUCO player in the country. Unbelieveable offensive
skills with the ability to shoot the deep jumper to go along with big time athleticism.
Mid range game is also solid. Could be one of the best athletes in the country as
well as one of the best shooters in the country. Shoots 90%+ from the free throw
line too. Originally from Akron, OH.

California and the top scorer in Norcal. Strong lefty scorer who can really get it
done offensively. UNLV leads for his services.

as a freshman. Big guard who can handle and score in bunches. Solid athlete who

as hard as anybody out there.

can run the point as well. Solid shooter who can score the ball. Has a great feel for
the game. Qualifier who can play right now. Colorado State and St Mary's lead.

can shoot you out if he gets it going. His solid handle and quick release allow him
to be effective against bigger guards.
7. Jaquain Weary FR 6'5" Cerritos - big time athlete who can
finish with the best of them.
8. Matt Cook SO 6'3" LA Pierce - solid all around game from
the perimeter. Big time stroke from behind the arc.

really stroke the long ball. High school team went 31-2 this year. Full qualifier who is
deadly from distance.

who can do it all. He scores, shoots, defends, etc.
Wing Forwards
1. Ervin Dunson SO 6'7" San Diego City - one of the best
athletes in the country. Perimeter game is still evolving but coming real fast.
Big time off the ball shotblocker. Long and rangy. Big time energy guy who
is going to get at least 3 showtime dunks every game. National Sleeper.
2. Donald Thomas SO 6'6" Daytona Beach (FL) - solid all
around wing player. Qualified in the fall after school had started last year or
else he would have never ended up in JUCO. Looks like Sacramento State
stole him right after camp. Solid mid major wing.
3. Cornell Williams SO 6'7" San Diego City - another big time
athlete who can really get to the rim. Underrated jumpshot. Mid major guy
who might get better with the lack of quality size out there.
4. Eric Williams SO 6'5" Long Beach City - 2 sport athlete
who sat out last year. They call him "50" due to his big time physique but don't
let that fool you because he is very versatile. He can shoot the 3 and hit the mid
range jumper. Big time athlete too.

Anthony Mason. Point forward who can hurt you on the perimeter, in the open court
or on the post. Hulk like physique. Might have clock issues.

mix with Iowa, UTEP, Idaho, New Orleans and many others.

4. Josh Crawford FR 7'0" Undecided - unsigned senior who has blown up over the summer playing with the Compton Magic HS team and JUCO team. Needs to add strength but has an unbelievable upside. Pretty good athlete with a good fell from the perimeter. Has only played basketball for 3 years which is scary. Qualifier who is chosing from SMU, Iowa, San Diego and Pepperdine.
5. Chron Tatum SO 6'8" Riverside - big time hustle guy who plays hard all of the time. Gets tons done on both ends of the floor. Solid mid major role player who could really flourish at the low major level.

7. Xavier Kilby FR 6'8" Northeastern (CO) - Qualifier who can go to school right now. Big body who can also step out and shoot the 17 foot jumper. If no one scoops him up now should be a hot prospect next spring.
8. Seth Richins FR 6'8" Undecided (AZ) - unsigned senior qualifier who played well all summer. Needs to add strength but just plays hard and battles every posession. Skilled offensively but more comfortable on the perimeter. Can shoot the jumpshot from behind the arc too.
9. Mychal Thomas SO 6'6" Santa Ana - good athlete who plays hard and much bigger than his size suggests. More of a perimeter player but loves to get in the paint and mix it up with the big boys.
10. Dennis Joynes SO 6'6" San Diego City - solid athlete who can really finish around the basket. Going to be tough for him to find minutes on a stacked San Diego City team.
Centers

7. Marcellus Robertson SO 6'7" Antelope Valley - one of the most improved players in the state. Just a blue collar guy on the post.
8. Lawrence Billings SO 6'8" Bakersfield - super skinny but gets it done around the basket with athleticism. Needs to add strength to be a division 1 player.
9. Rafael Harris SO 6'8" Antelope Valley - good athlete who can finish around the rim. Post game needs work but will come with added strength.
10. Emmon Preston SO 6'9" Undecided - not much known about this guy but he definitely passes the looks test. Showed flashes.
