2006 Pangos All-American Camp
”Best of the Rest”

(June 9, 2006)

As the rosters of the two “Cream of the Crop” games” make clear, the 2006 Pangos All-American Camp had plenty of top-notch talent on hand this year.

Unfortunately we were only able to select 40 or so players for these two top games, but the talent did not end there.  There was plenty of other promising D-I talent that stood-out last weekend.  The players below (in no particular order) are several of these prospects.

Anthony Hill                           5’11”  2008               Plano East (Plano TX)

The son of former Dallas Cowboy great Tony Hill, Anthony is a smooth point that has a solid handle and the ability to knock down open jump shots.  Nice potential!

Chris Gabriel                         6’10”  2008               Patterson School (Lenoir NC)

Mammoth-sized post has only been playing organized basketball for a few years.  The South African native has quickly improved his offensive post skills and is one big Class of 2008 post to track.

Jordan Block                        6’2”     2007               Claremont (Claremont CA)

When it comes to shooting the rock, Jordan has few peers in Southern California.  Underrated ballhandler and passer, Block will be a hot commodity for mid-majors looking for sharpshooters this July.

Dallas Rutherford                      6’2”     2008               Hillcrest Christian (Granada Hills CA)

Playing with great confidence, Rutherford has that special swagger inherent in big time scorers.  Rutherford looked impressive here and will be transferring to Campbell Hall (North Hollywood CA) next school year.

Chris Jones                               6’3”     2008               Newark Memorial (Newark CA)

Athletic combo-guard gets after it on the defensive end and can really get into gaps when he beats defenders off the dribble.

Zareh Zagaryan                         6’6”     2007               Hoover (Glendale CA)

Practically unknown (even in Southern California) prior to the Pangos Camp, Zagaryan is a versatile and multi-dimensional forward that affects the game in various ways.  Mid-major prospect with intriguing potential.

Trent Anderson                         6’7”     2007               Ironwood Ridge (Tucson AZ)

Combination of size, accurate perimeter stroke and great academics give Anderson a nice package that is attractive to college coaches.

George Barbour                        6’7”     2007               Torrance (Torrance CA)

Bouncy post-forward is a late-bloomer that played in the shadow of UNC-bound Deon Thompson at Torrance last season.  Look for 2006-07 to be Barbour’s year to shine as George should be a magnet for mid-majors in need of a quality athletic big.

Strong point with an impressive basketball IQ, Cobbs is one floor-leader that has a bright future.

Justin Hawkins                           6’1”     2009               Taft (Woodland Hills CA)

Savvy lead guard has a knack of making the right play on both ends of the floor.  Excellent student.

Gary Franklin                             6’1”     2010               Los Angeles CA

Exceptional rising freshman point reminds me of a young Jarret Jack (Portland Trailblazers).

Tyler
Lamb                                6’5”     2010               Colony (Ontario CA)

One of two 8th graders in the camp, Lamb competed very well and has the potential to be a big-time wing in this class.   Excellent perimeter shooter.

Nicci Combs                              6’0”     2008               Santa Fe (Edmund OK)

Oklahoma’s top soph lead guard has real playmaking abilities.

Brandon Richardson                 6’1”     2007               Hawthorne (Hawthorne CA)

Fast-rising combo-guard has a nice 3-point stroke and will be one of the West Coast’s top sleepers this July.

Andrew Goudelock                   6’1”     2007               Stone Mountain (Stone Mountain GA)

Athletic guard is an excellent perimeter shooter.

Matt Hornbuckle                       6’2”     2006               Oaks Christian (Westlake Village CA)

Chris Solomon                         6’3”     2008               Fairfax (Los Angeles CA)

Solomon played just one day before sustaining an injury.  Chris is a lefty with a smooth demeanor, legitimate three-point range and a crafty scoring skill set.

Avner Alkhas                           6’3”     2007               Northwood (Irvine CA)

Savvy wing-guard can really stroke it from deep.   Terrific student fared well against the deep number of athletes here.

Enoch Andoh                          6’8”     2008               Salpointe (Tucson AZ)

Rugged power-forward has a true “back-to-the-basket” post game and is also an excellent student.

Craig Payne                            6’4”     2009               Etiwanda (Etiwanda CA)

Physical wing-forward gets the job done!   Payne and HS teammate (and Top 40 selection) Rome Draper give Etiwanda coach Dave Kleckner plenty of reasons to be optimistic about his program’s future.

Keegan Hornbuckle               6’6”     2009               Oaks Christian (Westlake Village CA)

Very talented freshman will transfer to Campbell Hall (North Hollywood CA) for soph year.  Deceptively athletic, Keegan has deep range on his jump shot and a bouncy first-step.

Renaldo Woolridge                6’7”     2008               Harvard-Westlake (North Hollywood CA)

Son of former NBA player Orlando Woolridge, Renaldo is just now coming into his own.  Underrated perimeter shooter is an athlete with a nice physique.   One to track!

Demetrius Crowell                 6’7”     2007               Mesa (Mesa AZ)

Blue-collar post-forward bangs with effectiveness and can score on the block.

BJ Frazier                              6’7”     2007               Stevenson (Stone Mountain GA)

Athletic slashing scorer is an active rebounder.

Deandre Matlock                   6’8”     2009               Clovis West (Fresno CA)

Long forward needs work and time for his frame to fill out, but there is no question that he will be a sought after recruit after gets stronger and acquires experience.

Lamont Prosser                     6’8”     2008               South (Ft. Wayne IN)

Solid rebounder defends well on the block.

Toby Veal                             6’8”     2008               Johnson (Savannah GA)

Physical post player has ability to score in the paint.

Garrett Green                       6’9”     2007               Taft (Woodland Hills CA)

Very improved power-forward is extremely agile and has nice scoring skills.   Excellent West Coast sleeper!

Flynn Clayman                    6’8”     2007               New Roads (Santa Monica CA)

Skilled post has legitimate ability to face basket to score.  Improved rebounder and defender is one for mid-majors to follow closely this summer.

Darius Morris                       5’11”  2009               Windward (Los Angeles CA)

Another talented Class of 2009 point from Southern California, Darius may have as much upside as any of them.   Morris has an impressive first step off the dribble.

Dallas Elmore                      6’6”   2008               Puder (Fort Collins CO)

Athletic wing-forward can score.  Rocky Mountain prospect is oozing with potential.

Matthew Wallace                6’1”   2007               City Honors (Inglewood CA)

Quick combo-guard has sweet scoring stroke.

Bubacar Cylla                     7’1”   2007               Stoneridge School (Simi Valley CA)

Towering center did not play here due to an eye infection, but his size alone will attract many colleges patient for an impact big man.
